We do not achieve our goals immediately. We have to adapt to setbacks and have the strength to see something through. We give up too easily and do not stick to one thing. We must stay strong to our goals and stay on course. When things do not go to plan we have to use it as feedback, make changes and start again. Passion and desire will keep us on course.

When dealing with negative people, it is important for us to say to ourselves that we are in control. We should not allow emotions to control us. If we have a positive attitude, we will pull others into our positive state. We must decide for ourselves the state of our emotions and how we feel about things are up to us. If we recall our vision every night before we sleep, it helps us wake up feeling positive. We must remember to control our state of mind.

My Action Plan:
I am going to relax, close my eyes and think of events in my life that made me feel really confident. When I concentrate on them, I am going to make them even bigger, bolder and positive. Then, I will think about a situation in the future that I want to feel more confident about. I will then imagine it going perfectly and feel the great success with all my senses, in other words hear, see and feel the success. Daily practise will help improve my attitude, mental state and also the state of the people around me.

I have events in my life that make me feel very confident.

The first event was when I passed my ALCM (TD) music teaching diploma. I choose this because it was such a lot of work and preparation to get to the stage of taking the exam. The exam was a performance of three pieces, piano techniques, teaching skills and a question and answer session. The whole exam lasted over an hour. It was very stressful, but when I discovered I had passed, it was an amazing feeling.

The second event was achieving my Open University degree. I worked on this degree part-time for 6 years. It took a long time, but when I had achieved it, I felt great relief, satisfaction and confidence.

In order to make these achievements seem greater, I think what I can achieve from having these qualifications. I am able to teach music, the theory side, as well as piano and flute. It makes me feel confident because I have achieved a useful skill. With my degree, I have achieved a better knowledge of English language, the history, how it is used and why it is used.

When I want to feel more confident about the future, I think of my vision of financial freedom. I feel the success and the excitement of what I have achieved. I think about how relieved I feel that I can choose my work hours and I have more time for family and friends. I can take a break when I feel the need without having to worry about paying my bills.
